Charvel`s Desolation Series has caused a lot of stir and garnered great success since it`s launch last year. It started off with ten models with three different shapes, and now, updated, it lists fifteen models with five shapes. These novelties were unveiled at the NAMM Show this January in Anaheim, Ca. DX-1 FR is the premier model of the new Soloist section within the Desolation series, and it comes with a mahogany body and flamed maple top on selected finishes. Transparent Black, Transparent Red, Cherry Sunburst and Transparent Blue Smear are offered with multi-ply abalone binding, while the black flat and snow white come with single-ply binding. The bridge on this model is a recessed Floyd Rose FRT-O2000 double locking tremolo. Pickup combo chosen for this model comes from EMG, and consists of 81 in the bridge and 85 in the neck position. They are controlled with a master volume knob and three-way pickup switch. The neck is made of maple and connected to the body via neck-through-body joint. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and equipped with 24 jumbo sized frets, abalone sharktooth inlays, compound 12-16" radius and 1.6875" string nut. 25-1/2" scale and black nickel plated hardware complete the specs list. The MSRP for DX-1 FR is set at $866.65 for Black Flat and Snow White, and $933.32 for transparent finishes.
