DCR stands for Dean Custom Run. It is a special line within the Dean Guitars catalog, which deals with one off series, super cool designs and ultimate quality materials. They do cost big bucks, but they also deliver outstanding performance. Four new models have been introduced for 2013: DCR 6 Cadillac Floyd, DCR 7 Stealth Floyd Rose, DCR 8 ML Switchblade and DCR 9 DCR RC7X Lazer. DCR 6 Cadillac Floyd will be reviewed in this article. It is a solid, single-cut guitar with Cadillac contours. It is made of mahogany back and flamed maple top. Traditional choice of creme binding and high gloss finish decorate the body of this model. Top panel features bookmatched panels of flamed maple. Bridge section on this model features a Floyd Rose double-locking bridge with black chrome plating. Pickups on this one are active humbuckers. EMG81 is in the bridge and 85 in the neck. Standard Cadillac controls unit completes the electronics section. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features C contour in the back. On it`s top Dean installs a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays and 1-11/16" wide locking nut.
