After almost two decades of reign of nu and alternative metal which almost entirely discarded guitar solos, a new wave of shred guitarists emerged in recent years. Britain`s Andy James is one of the most competent and accomplished representatives of this shred resurgence wave. Known for his fondness of hardtail bridges, super-efficient playing techniques and ability to emulate virtually any style of rock and metal, Andy has rightfully earned his place in the spotlights. E-II AJ EC-7 is another testament to his continually rising status, as his previous signature models were in LTD class. E-II AJ-EC-7 is a solid Eclipse guitar made of mahogany back and plain maple top. It takes visual cues from the previous AJ model, such as the bound fingerboard with a sole 12th fret Andy James inlay, Black Satin finish with white binding and black chrome hardware. The neck is made of three pieces of maple, it is glued to the body and features a 24-fret ebony fingerboard on top (1.89" bone nut, 12" radius and extra jumbo frets). EMG`s 57 and 66 pickups in their seven-string versions sit in the bridge and neck positions, respectively. They deliver a versatile tone rooted deep in classic heavy metal tradition. Two volume knobs, master tone and a three-way toggle switch comprise the controls. Two-piece hardtail bridge and Grover tuners wrap up the specs list.
