Since the original Les Paul Goldtop was an upscale guitar and Custom raised the bar even higher, Gibson sought for a budget-friendly solution. It was found in 1954, it had a slab mahogany body, one P-90 pickup, a stopbar bridge and "Junior" attached to Les Paul label. Four years later, double-cut variant made its debut. Collector`s Choice #19 1959 LP Junior Double Cutaway is a faithful replica of the classic 1959 axe. It sports aged and beaten looks, period-correct features and classic single-coil tone. This Limited Run double-cut sells for $5,332, which makes it one of the most affordable Limiteds. Main features include a slab mahogany body (light-weight, hand-selected), faux tortoiseshell pickguard, one-piece mahogany neck, lone P-90 Dogear pickup, wraparound bridge, solid Indian rosewood fingerboard (one-piece) and Kluson tuners.
