Duane Allman was, and still is, one of the most iconic and influential musicians to ever set a foot on the rock scene. His short, but rich career and untimely death have immortalized his songs, riffs and solos. Throughout his career, Duane played on countless guitars which he had bought, traded and modified. Guitars were so numerous that it became virtually impossible to differentiate which guitar was used for which recording, or which concert and gig. After years of research and countless interviews, Gibson`s historian, Joe Parnell, has come to the conclusion that Duane gigged and recorded mostly with his 1959 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul. In order to pay the due tribute to one of the most significant LP players from the 1960s and early 1970s, Gibson Custom has prepared 300 Duane Allman 1959 Cherry Sunburst Les Pauls. 150 of them will be aged and will cost $15,527 and 150 will feature Vintage Original Specs appearance and will cost $10,821. Duane Allman 1959 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul is a state-of-the-art replica guitar. It is made of a single piece of mahogany and a two-piece flamed cap on the top. Only the finest mahogany and maple pieces are considered for this exclusive series. Creme binding surrounds the top. Both the VOS and Aged variants come with Lemon Burst color schemes. Bridge section on this model is equipped with a tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar in the back. Custom Bucker pickups with Alnico III magnets are featured in the pickups compartment. These bad boys come with open-coil design and versatile vintage voice. Split volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a standard 3-way toggle pickup switch. Set in mahogany neck has a custom contour in the back and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. Creme binding, period-correct fretware, trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide nylon nut complete the fingerboard specs. Schaller`s nickel-plated tuners have 12:1 gear ratio and are installed in the classic 3+3 pattern.
