True Historic segment of the Historic line, started in 1993, contains the closest and most accurate recreations of the historic Gibson models ever seen. In order to achieve the True Historic level, Gibson Custom`s luthiers and engineers had to put in an enormous amount of effort and, basically, relearn their craft. True Historic 1957 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty is one of several True Historic models introduced for 2015. For starters, the one-piece mahogany body is made without a weight relief which is so popular on modern LPs. But, to avoid the unpleasant tendency to hurt player`s shoulders and backs early LPs had, Gibson Custom has opted for intermediately dense pieces of mahogany. Nowadays, with state of the art electronics, amps and pickups, super heavy bodies and necks are becoming quite obsolete. Players` spines, rejoice! Also, the two-piece maple top is fit with the historically accurate dish profile and the authentic multi-ply binding. Custom Buckers in the bridge and neck positions now have the True Historic covers, as well as the classic LP controls unit. Neck on Black Beauty is the same as on the original `57 LP Custom. It`s a one-piece neck with the `57 profile in the back and an ebony fingerboard on the top. 22 frets, block inlays, 1-11/16" wide nylon nut and creme binding complete the fingerboard. Kluson`s Waffle Back tuners complete the staggering list of historically accurate features found on this gem. But, this kind of quality and dedication to the perfection costs. A lot.
