Back in 1953 Gibson built the first prototype of a guitar which would, a year later, be introduced as Gibson Les Paul Custom. It was made at Les Paul`s personal request as a classier, "Tuxedo Guitar" as he called it, version of the already existing Goldtop. 1957 Black Beauty was the first to sport humbuckers, with a vast majority of built units having three instead of Gibson`s standard two.
True Historic 1957 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty comes in with two-pickup layout, Ebony color scheme against gold-plated hardware, and aged creme binding. It costs $7,699 which puts it in the intermediate class (Gibson Custom`s current range sports models with price tags up to $11,000).
