As the turbulent sixties were over, Les Paul and the rest of the Gibson catalog (including the unlikely heroes of hard rock and metal music, Explorer and Flying V) got back on their feet and started thriving again. Throughout the seventies, Les Paul once again established the dominion over the solid guitar market, and LP Custom as the series top model took the throne. 1974 incarnation of the Les Paul Custom packed all the quality and charm of its predecessors, and offered a bit fatter, heavier tone to satisfy the ever-growing appetite of the seventies youngsters. 2015 model named 1974 Les Paul Custom captures the uniqueness of the seventies icon. As all LP Custom models ever made, this one has the mahogany/maple body. This time around, it`s a one-piece mahogany base with a three-piece plain maple top with a historically accurate contour. Body, neck and the headstock are bound in the characteristic shade of creme, while the hardware features gold plating. One-piece mahogany neck has the classic long tenon joint, as well as the historically accurate back contour. Fingerboard on its top has 22 frets with block inlays, and is made of Indian rosewood. The MSRP is set at $6,699.
