Futura is a relatively recent concept in Gibson`s catalog. It kicked of a couple of years ago and is slowly gaining stronger and stronger following. A bit unorthodox concept for tradition-oriented Gibson almost always includes slim necks,modern-sounding pickups and, as of 2014, Min-E-Tune robotic tuners. 2014 SG Futura is the double-cut sibling of 2014 Les Paul Futura. SG Futura kicks off with a solid and double-cut SG body with beveled edges and set in neck joint. Color palette of this modern SG is made up of six options: Champagne Fade, Brilliant Red Fade, Inverness Green Fade, Bullion Gold Fade, pacific Blue Fade and Plum Insane Fade. All of them are finished in gloss and have chrome hardware. Standard bridge section (seen on a vast majority of electric guitars made by Gibson) is made up of a tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar. Open-coiled Burstbucker 3 in the bridge and P-90H in the neck position are Gibson`s weapons of choice for the entire 2014 Futura range. Set in maple neck rocks the 160s contour in the back and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. The MSRP for this intermediate SG is set at $1,143.
