Les Paul Swamp Ash Studio is the regular Studio model with one distinct feature. It`s body is made of swamp ash, instead of mahogany. Back in 1950s, swamp ash and korina were the main tone woods, but they were quickly replaced by alder and mahogany. With this Studio, Gibson is going back to the roots. Solid, single-cut body completely made of swamp ash. It is finished in satin and it`s only color option is natural. Neck on this model is made of mahogany. It is set in and equipped with the standard asymmetrical contour in the back. Recent trends in Gibson have switched modern Les Paul and SG models to asymmetrical neck contours. Fingerboard is made of rosewood and equipped with 22 frets. 490R and 498T humbuckers are featured on this model.
