AS153 is the only double-cut model in the newly established series named Artstar. It is a part of the hollow-body section of Ibanez catalog. AS153 is a semi-hollow-bodied guitar made with vintage styling and extremely versatile tone. Main ingredients of this omnipotent tone are Super '58 Custom humbuckers installed into the center block of the body. They feature rich and warm tone with enormous sustain. Just right amount of volume and power can be dialed at any given moment through the split volume and tone knobs. Three-way toggle pickup switch completes the controls unit. Bridge section behind them sports a regular tight-tune bridge with stoptail bar in the back. Body of this model is made of flamed maple back, sides and top. Top panel is decorated with creme binding, bound "f" holes and flame maple pickguard. Neck is the standard Artstar series feature with set in joint and Artstar contour in the back. It`s made of three pieces of mahogany and maple and it`s topped with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard.

Top notch guitar. Owned an ES 355 40 years ago, and this one is better. Have an AK85 and a Telecaster to compete with. The only thing to fix is lowering the strings on/in the nut 0.2 - 0.3 mm. Wonderful mixture of tones.
This one is an excellent piece of jazz guitar. Absolutely good for smooth jazz or main stream, however it has surprisingly good rock/blues tone what I did not expect but really like. The second pickup selector has huge impact on sound like body and shine or thickness. Overall quality is amazing. I owned lots of guitars in the last 25 years up to 5000$/piece and the AS153 one of the best I have ever picked up. I really love it. Highly recommended.
As many have said, it is a beautifully made guitar. I cannot find one defect to comment about. I have owned mine for 1 1/2 years. However, I do believe the pickups in the newly made guitars are different from the ones in mine. I should say, the ones that used to be in mine. While those pickups were OK, they weren't quite what I was looking for. I really wanted to get an Ibanez AS200 but I do not like having the output jack on the front of the guitar. So, I bought the AS153 (output jack on the side). I was not fully satisfied with the sound and I eventually replaced the original pickups with the same ones used in the AS200. I am VERY happy now. It is a gorgeous guitar. I have a gibson semi-hollow body guitar and I can tell you the build quality of the Ibanez is better.
