S420 model is a sort f a standard for the S series and it features exactly what is most characteristic of this line of metal axes. It comes with a solid, double-cut body made of mahogany. BOdy of this model sports the carved top, as well as the contoured back. Back contour is there for improved comfort. Also, the cutaway is deep in order to help the player access the upper frets. Construction-wise, this model, as all S series models do, has a bolt-on neck joint. Black and Blackberry Sunburst comprise the color palette for this model. Both are finished in high gloss. ZR tremolo bridge is installed on top of the body and it is matched with a locking string nut at the opposite end of the 25-1/2" scale. Ibanez pickups are reserved for the basic S series and are also found on this model. Pair of Infinity humbuckers is featured on S420. Neck is made of three pieces of maple, which is pretty much the standard for both the RG and S series. Back contour on this neck is the standard Wizard. On top, Ibanez installs a 24-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.
