SG electric guitars are quite certainly one of the most popular and most important electric guitar series ever made and is most certainly the more popular half of the SG range, which also includes electric basses. Though very popular around the world, both among the amateurs and professionals, SG basses are no match for their older six-stringed brethren. Nevertheless, SG Bass series has received updates for 2014. Two models reinforce this legendary line and 2014 SG Standard Bass is the more expensive of two. IT comes with a solid and double-cut body made of mahogany and a set in (glued in) neck also made of mahogany. This is Gibson`s favorite combination of tonewoods, as it has been proven through countless four, five and six-string models. On the top of this mid-range four-stringer, Gibson installs a hardtail bridge with top-load construction (rarely has Gibson made a guitar, or a bass, for that matter, with string-through-body construction) and a pair of T-Bird pickups. Mini version is in the bridge position, while the full-sized pickup is in the neck position. Two volume knobs and a master tone knob complete the controls unit. Mahogany neck is slim, narrow and very fast. Rosewood fingerboard reveals Gibson`s intention to hold firmly on tradition of 20 frets for four and five-stringers. The MSRP is set at $1,525.
