SG is almost as successful as a four-stringed bass, as it is as a six-stringed guitar. In past fifty, or so years, Gibson has made countless variants and incarnations of this magnificent bass. As a rule, SG four-stringers come with short bass scales, measuring only 30-1/25", which is the case this time, as well. Solid and double-cut body is made of ultra low density mahogany, which results in tremendous weight relief without compromising the classic SG Bass tone. On the top of the Heritage Cherry painted body, Gibson installs the classic 3-point adjustable bridge with four saddles and chrome plating. Bridge position is fit with a standard SG minibucker pickup, while the neck position rocks the full-sized dual coil pickup. Two volume knobs act as a pickup balancer/selector and are accompanied by a master tone knob. Mahogany neck rocks the comfortable rounded contour in the back and a thick one-piece rosewood fingerboard on the top. 20-fret fingerboard is equipped with a 1.60" Tektold nut (all of the 2015 models have .10" wider necks), pearl trapezoid inlays and the standard 12" radius. The MSRP is set at $1,679.
