Billy Gibbons is one of the icons of rock `n` roll and blues and his tone is among the most recognizable ones. Throughout his career, Mr Gibbons has played a huge variety of guitars, of which a vast majority were and still are, Gibson`s Les Paul models. His signature series in Gibson catalog is one of the longest running LP signature series. For 2014, Gibson Custom`s catalog features Billy F Gibbons Goldtop as one of seven models in Les Paul range. It is a vintage-styled six-stringer with classic construction and Seymour Duncan electronics. Solid and single-cut body of Billy F Gibbons Goldtop is made of mahogany base and carved maple top. Beautiful creme binding decorates the gold-painted top. Chambered back is made of a single piece of mahogany, while the top is made of two pieces of maple. Dirty Lemon VOS and Dirty Lemon Aged are the color options available for this model. Both are finished in nitrocellulose gloss. Classic Gibson Les Paul construction also includes a two-piece bridge unit made up of a tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar. Instead of the standard Gibson pickups, Billy Gibbons Goldtop is fit with a pair of Mr. Gibbons` favorite Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates humbuckers, thus guaranteeing the genuine ZZ Top tone to the potential players. Two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls unit. Standard mahogany neck with maple spline is attached to the body with a classic mortise & tenon joint and is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. 22 frets with figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 1-11/16" wide nylon string nut and 12" radius are featured on the fingerboard. The MSRP for the Billy F Gibbons Goldtop is set at reasonable (for Gibson Custom catalog) $5,665.
