Tak Matsumoto is a guitar legend from Japan and is currently known as the driving force behind the band B`z. His legacy and influence are unmatched among Japanese guitarists. Tak has already had several signature models produced for him, but all others fade when Gibson Custom makes you a signature guitar. Tak Matsumoto Doublecut Custom Ebony is it`s full name. This is a very special model, as Gibson Custom and Tak opted to go with Les Paul`s double cutaway variant of the body. It is traditionally made of mahogany. One piece of finest mahogany makes up this solid guitar body. It is topped with maple cap. Top is bound in several layers of binding and features no pickguard. In the bridge section Gibson installs a gold-plated tune-o-matic bridge in the front, while the stoptail bar sits in the back. Burstbucker pickups are installed in both the neck and bridge positions. Burstbucker No.3 is in the bridge and Burstbucker No.2 in the neck position, to be exact. Master tone, split volume knobs and three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls unit. Neck on this model is made of mahogany with maple spline. IT features a classic mortise & tenon joint and Tak Matsumoto contour in the back. It is topped with a richlite fingerboard. 22 frets, mother-of-pearl block inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide corian nut complete the fingerboard. The MSRP for this model is set at $5,762.
