2014 Les Paul Traditional is one of the most interesting models in the 2014 lineup of the Les Paul segment. This vintage-styled beauty is made for all the vintage Les Paul fanatics who find modern day modifications and compromises unacceptable. Les Paul Traditional carries on the torch of the 1950s and 1960s LPs into the future with pride and honor of a thoroughbred Les Paul. As opposed to the majority of current Les Paul models, Traditional comes with a completely solid mahogany body. There is no weight relief applied on this six-stringer in order to give the players completely authentic feel of the early Les Pauls. This traditional feature might throw off some of the younger players who are well used to lighter bodies and thinner necks (for Les Paul Traditional has a thick vintage-styled neck). Solid and thick mahogany body is topped with a two-piece maple cap. The cap is contoured and features the vintage-styled creme binding around the edges. There is a total of six color options available for this stunner: Ocean Blue, Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Honey Burst, Manhattan Midnight, Wine Red and Tobacco Sunburst. All of them feature two-piece flamed maple tops with matching patterns. Also, all of them are finished in gloss and have chrome-plated hardware. Bridge section on this vintage six-stringer is made up of two components: In the front, there is the standard six-saddled tune-o-matic bridge, while in the back, Gibson installs the stoptail bar. Bridge is, as is the rest of the hardware, plated in chrome. No traditional, or vintage guitar would offer a complete experience with modern and contemporary sounding pickups and therefore, Gibson once more recreates the classic 1959 humbuckers especially for the 2014 Les Paul Traditional. These vintage-sounding humbuckers offer the true traditional LP experience, giving the thickness, sustain and texture unbelievably close to the original 1959 pickups. Along with them, Gibson installs the classic set of controls, which includes separate volume pots, separate tone pots and a three-way toggle pickup switch. Les Paul Traditional has no coil-splitting switches, nor the decibel boost toggle switches found on other 2014 models. Mahogany neck is connected to the body via the classic mortise & tenon joint and rocks the classic 1950s back contour. On it`s top, there is the standard 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. It features cryogenically tempered frets with figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1.695" wide string nut. The MSRP for this gorgeous little rocker is set at $2,615.
