DT is short of Destroyer, which is the name of the Ibanez series containing Explorer-like guitars. Over the course of decades and years, DT models have evolved from affordable Explorer knock-offs to a respectable Explorer-based series with distinctive style and tone. Instead of active, Destroyer line models are equipped with passive electronics. For 2014, Ibanez rejuvenates the Destroyer series with an intermediate six-stringer named DT420. It is a solid and flat guitar with body made entirely of mahogany. Also, it is fit with a one-piece mahogany neck. This guarantees a growling low end and bucket loads of sustain for all the juicy hard rock riffs and licks. On the top, Ibanez installs the classic two-piece hardtail combo, made up of the tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar behind it. Passive Classic Elite humbuckers are installed in the front. Vol/vol/tone configuration of pots and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls. Mahogany neck is fit with the Destroyer contour in the back and is topped with a standard 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
