S2 Standard 22 is a solid-bodied guitar from the recently introduced S2 series. S2, or the Stevensville 2 series, is a line of more affordable PRS six and four stringers and an effort from PRS to gain a stable ground in the intermediate sections of the market. S2 Standard 22 comes with a double-cut body made entirely of mahogany, as there is no carved top. It had to be wiped out of the specs list to save on the production costs which, ultimately, diminishes overall price. On the top of the beveled body, PRS installs a non-locking tremolo bridge. It is a PRS tremolo with non-locking construction and nickel plating. Strings run through this super stable bridge and are anchored beneath the bridge block. Pickups combo on this model is a "made for this series" S2 #7 set of active humbuckers. Bass pickup is in the neck, while the treble pickup occupies the bridge position. Regular master volume and a push/pull tone are accompanied by a three-position blade switch. Mahogany neck with a super playable pattern contour is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Locking PRS tuners wrap the specs list.
