EG-1 Custom comes as a new model for 2012 and it is a new flagship model for Escape series of electric guitars. Escape series, besides EG-1 Custom, has EG-1, EG-2 and the Original Escape models. This new Custom model raises a bar for both looks and performance of travel-oriented guitars. EG-1 Custom starts off with a solid, single cutaway alder body. It has a flat top which is bound in multiple layers of black and white. The only color option available for this model is black with glossy finish. There are no pickguards built on. The bridge department for the EG-1 Custom is made up of a tune-o-matic bridge with strings being led around and under the body towards the tuning machines. There is only one pickup in the bridge position, and it is a full-sized active humbucker with gold plated cover. It is controlled through a setup of master volume and master tone knobs. The neck is made of African mahogany and connected to the body via the bolt-on joint. The fingerboard is made of ebonized rosewood and equipped with 21 jumbo frets and block position inlays. The scale measures at 24-3/4" and the string nut is 1.625" wide. Tuners are chrome plated and placed under the body. They have 14:1 gear ratio and are accessible through two holes in the middle part of the body.
