Pro series is Epiphone`s counter measure in response to the huge success Asian manufacturers have with their ultra affordable acoustics. PRO-1 Plus is an intermediate steel-string option in this series kickoff lineup. It comes with a standard non-cutaway dreadnought body with 24-3/4" scale and reduced depth (a feature justified with the tremendous build costs reduction). Mahogany is used of the back and sides, while the top is made of spruce (the only nylon stringer has a cedar top, while the other three are fit with spruce sound boards). Like the basic PRO-1 and the series top model, PRO-1 Ultra, PRO-1 Plus can be bought in five different colors: Natural, Ebony, Blueburst, Wine Red and Vintage Sunburst. All are finished in gloss and all have chrome-plated hardware. On the top, Epiphone installs the standard rosewood-made bridge with NuBone string saddle. Non-cutaway body design indicates that there are no electronics planned for this gorgeous steel-stringer (all are saved for the PRO-1 Ultra). Mahogany neck is set in with a dovetail joint at the 14th fret. On it`s top, there is the series standard 20-fret fingerboard with dot inlays and NuBone string nut. The MSRP is set at $229.
